Hartford Country Band 1

The music of this Hartford Country Band is reflective of the traditional country/bluegrass sounds no longer available on the radio. Now in their ninth year, the group has performed at numerous festivals, fairs, bazaars, old home days, Farmer's Markets, Senior Centers and other town functions. In addition, they are well known throughout the Connecticut area for their many appearances each year at retirement and assisted living facilities. The group is known for its ability to engage the audience and to get them involved in some musical pranks.

Hartford Country Band members

All around musician, Dennis, joined this Hartford Country Band in the late Spring of 2017. He plays guitar, mandolin and fiddle and shares lead and harmony vocals. Dennis is a veteran of the Connecticut country music scene with 42 years of experience playing in various duets, trios and larger groups. He was the founding member of the popular band Bolton Notch and has performed in other notable bands including Heartland and Skyline Drive. Both Bolton Notch and Heartland received First Place awards in the Hartford Advocate’s annual Best Bands survey in the country music category. Dennis is also a songwriter and has produced two CD’s of original country music performed by Bolton Notch.

Lead player and vocalist, Jim, began his music career in his own country swing band, Jim Sharpley and the Sharpshooters. A long-time broadcaster, you may have even seen Jim over the years on Channel 8 WNHC-TV in New Haven, CT. on News-40 TV in Springfield MA., or listened to him on a variety of radio stations including WDRC-AM/FM. After a musical hiatus, Jim joined up this Hartford Country Band in 2011, stepping outside his country music roots and into the bluegrass arena. He sings lead vocals and harmony and is one of the group’s instrumentalists, playing guitar, banjo, dobro and harmonica. The multi-talented musician was inducted into the Connecticut Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007.

Bass player and the newest member is Patricia. Pat started singing at the age of ten and studied violin at 17. In addition to the bass Pat also plays mandolin and performed with the group Green Valley where she honed her vocal country and bluegrass harmonies with the guidance of the late Bob DiQuattro. Pat is a welcome addition to this Hartford Country Band.

The trio performs in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
