This Mariachi Band from Omaha began as a student group, which started from a mariachi class funded by a grant from the Nebraska Arts Council and offered through the Hispanic Ministries project: Cuicacalli Centro de Arte. Classes were offered to learn and appreciate traditional mariachi music for interested teachers and especially at-risk youth in Omaha.The first class had 21 students ranging in age from 6 to 50 years old. With much interest and progress from students and teachers, a “group” was born.
This Mariachi Band has been performing for many years in the Los Angeles area.This group first started with members between 14 to 17 years old in Mexico in 1989. The group after 3 to 4 years was disintegrated because most of its members decided to migrate to the United States looking for better musical opportunities. This Mariachi Band travel and perform throughout the New England region. They are a multi-cultural ensemble with experienced and talented musicians from various backgrounds and nationalities.Their repertoire is ample in rhythm and style, and very adaptable to the requests of their audience. They sing in Spanish and English.The size of the band and instrumentation can be tailored to specific events. The band size can adapt to perform as a duet, a trio, a quartet, or their largest band size of eight musicians upon request.
