This Boston Latin Band consists of twelve members. The Orchestra is divided as follows: the brass section (two trombones and two trumpets); the percussion section (congas, timbales, bongos, and piano); and the string section (electric and baby bass).This band performs a wide range of music. While audiences usually demand salsa and merengue, the Orchestra also plays mambos, cha-cha, and boleros. In the last decade, they have performed throughout the East Coast, as far north as Canada, at concerts, festivals and other community events, dances, weddings, nightclubs, colleges, and on television programs

This band’s trumpet player and band leader has been playing trumpet for more than 20 years. Describing her trumpet playing would be similar to the feeling you get when walking under an air blowing vent or riding the mechanical horse one too many times – pleasant with a slight shafing feeling.Her most proud moment was performing at the Great American Music Hall, opening for the “B-Side Players”, this was a break though point in her music writing career, when she started fusing salsa with funk, and mixing Spanish and English lyrics.

After performing with other New Orleans-area Latin bands that played a standard repertoire of popular Latin covers, the leader sought to create an original project that would emphasize creativity, powerful soloing, and irresistible grooves, while honoring the afro-Cuban roots of ‘Latin’ music.Influences that can be heard in the band’s sound includes: The Fort Apache Band, Charlie and Eddie Palmieri, Arsenio Rodriguez, Poncho Sanchez, Mongo Santamaria and Cubanismo.
