In addition to concerts this New York Klezmer Band teaches instrumental workshops in bluegrass and klezmer as well as presenting the wealth of stories and demonstrations that link these two kinds of music. The bluegrass/klezmer medleys are a big hit with the contradance crowd and also a favorite at weddings.
This Klezmer band, founded in 1983, brings a kaleidoscope of colors and moods and a spirit of fun to their performances. The combination of dance music, folk songs, theatre medleys and jazzy Yiddish pop music from the 1930′s to the 1950′s creates a multi-dimensional experience of America seen through immigrant eyes. Audiences of all ages and backgrounds are delighted by this band’s high-energy performances that glow with warmth and humor.They have played across America and Europe. From 1998 to 2007, the band performed in Germany, London, Munich, F??rth, Vienna, Amsterdam, Enschede and The Hague.
This Los Angeles Klezmer Band is a quartet that plays traditional music from pre-1917 Eastern Europe and the Ottoman Empire, as well as contemporary original progressive Klezmer Music that is infused with Cajun, R & B, American Folk, Middle Eastern and Jazz rhythms and melodies.
