Since its inception in 2000, The Amaryllis Chamber Ensemble has established itself as “one of the more innovative and interesting groups on the music scene” (Thom Roach, concert presenter, The Gore Place) by presenting diverse and engaging programs from the chamber music repertoire for wind and string instruments. Described by Joseph Mauro of the Biddeford Journal Tribune as "superb musical masters of their instruments."

The Amaryllis Chamber Ensemble performances

The Amaryllis Chamber Ensemble has performed for concert series at Harvard University, MIT, The Gore Place, Eastern Nazarene College, Lasell College, Wellesley Library, Newton Free Library, Derry Opera House, Lexington's Depot Square Gallery and many others. They were also featured performers at the Ogunquit Chamber Music Festival in 2009 and 2010 and at Old South Meeting House as a part of Boston's 2005, 2006 and 2007 First Night celebrations. Jessica Kriley of Old South Meeting House described their inaugural First Night performance as "awe-inspiring and truly memorable."

The Amaryllis Chamber Ensemble members

The Amaryllis Chamber Ensemble members maintain rigorous schedules as soloists, orchestral members, chamber music collaborators and teachers. The musicians have been trained at several of the nation’s top music schools and conservatories including The Boston Conservatory, Oberlin Conservatory, Cleveland Institute of Music, Curtis Institute of Music, Boston University and New England Conservatory. Each member brings a high level of musical artistry to the group, and they are quickly becoming known throughout the Boston area as outstanding musicians.

The Amaryllis Chamber Ensemble takes its name from Bonnie Cochran's composition, Amaryllis, the first piece ever performed by the ensemble. The ensemble continues to maintain high standards of excellence with each new performance by programming works designed to inspire and challenge the audience, including music from the standard repertoire as well as high quality works from lesser known composers of the past and emerging contemporary composers.
