San Francisco Kora Player 1

This San Francisco Kora Player is a multi-instrumentalist and innovator of the Kora (a 21- stringed harp/lute from West Africa).

He is one of the rare few sharing with us this unique ancient instrument, playing traditional songs originally played by the Griots (heretical storytellers of the Mandinka people of West Africa). This San Francisco Kora Player repertoire also includes classical music, famous popular tunes and a delightful collection of his own Kora compositions.

San Francisco Kora Player tour

While on the road as guitarist and kora player with Djali Kunda Kuyate (the twins) in December of 2002 through Senegal, Gambia and Mali, he not only studied kora and ngoni with various masters there but captured his experiences on minidisc. The result was an album created in 2005, a collection of crafty and poignant kora pieces woven with a tapestry of sounds and impressions of West Africa.

This San Francisco Kora Player's musical style is a fusion of West African, New Age, Electronic and Jazz, which together help define his unique modern sound.

San Francisco Kora Player instruments

Some of his other instruments include the Handsonic, Electric Guitar, Electric Sitar, Cello, Viola da Gamba, Gravikord (stainless steel electric Kora), Electric Ukulele, Ondes Martenot, Keyboard and Laptop.

This San Francisco Kora Player has two other recordings of Kora music to his credit.
