Mr. Jorgensen has spent eight
recent summers in Austria on the staff of the Summer
Academy in Lilienfeld, near Vienna, accompanying,
playing solo and chamber works on harpsichord, organ
and piano among distinguished musicians from Vienna
and Salzburg.
He graduated with honors from California State
University, Fresno, where he studied with Philip
Lorenz, Claudio Arrau’s longtime friend and
associate, and with Ena Bronstein, also an Arrau
student and concert artist. He subsequently earned,
with the highest marks, the Licentiate Degree from
the Royal School of Music in London, England.
He has performed in New York’s Carnegie Hall
with bassbaritone Earl Meyers, receiving favorable
reviews from not only the New York Times, but also
from German and Dutch papers.
Mr. Jorgensen is one of the few pianists today
who include in concerts on-the-spot improvisations,
which he feels stimulate audience imagination. <back
